Hello, my name is Sarah and Fatima Ameaka is my friend and co-worker at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is one of the most amazing people you will ever meet. As a Research Associate, Fatima is a brilliant scientist who is deeply committed to public health and advancing the work that keeps our communities safe. Her warmth, friendliness, and ability to light up any room have made her an irreplaceable part of our team. Fatima is a supportive colleague and friend who we all can count on, always ready to lend a hand or offer encouragement when it’s needed most.

On July 28, Fatima was arrested by ICE while boarding a domestic flight. This sudden and distressing event has left her in detention, and she urgently needs legal support to help secure her release. We are raising funds to cover Fatima’s legal fees, which will go directly toward obtaining bond and then cover as much of the fees as we can for the legal representation she needs during this difficult time. All funds raised will go directly to pay Fatima’s legal team and those who have fronted funds to retain her legal team.
