Hi, I’m Rider. I am reaching out to you in hopes of garnering your support for my eighteen year old cousin Erick Luciano Dominguez Guaman. On July 28th Erick, who is legally documented, was stopped by the police for a taillight violation and was subsequently unlawfully detained by ICE. He was taken to Delaney Hall. Our family has found it difficult to obtain reputable and swift immigration counsel as the system is so overwhelmed at this time. As a result, on Saturday night, before an accurate Writ of Habeas Corpus was filed, Erick was transferred to Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego. His hearing has been pushed back multiple times since his detainment.
Erick is a kind and caring son, brother, and human being and was a dedicated and determined student at John E. Dwyer Technology Academy in Elizabeth, N.J. He graduated in 2026 with a 3.9 GPA, was a three time recipient of the Superintendent’s Scholar Award and the Principal’s Scholar award, a recipient of the Senior Athletic award, the ESL POE award, and the Perfect Attendance award. Erick was accepted to The College of New Jersey, New Jersey Institute of Technology and New York Institute of Technology for the fall. He received an annual Academic Achievement award from NYIT. He was also a candidate for the Governor’s Urban Scholarship and the NJ STARS Scholarship. He plans to major in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly heartbreaking and challenging time for our family. We are uncertain of the emotional and monetary cost in our efforts to bring Erick home. Our family is eternally grateful for any support you can offer. Every dollar donated aides our family’s efforts to bring Erick home. If you can't offer monetary relief at this time we totally understand. Please consider showing your support by sharing this page — anything and everything helps.
With heartfelt gratitude and love,
Rider
