Third update on Eric ❤️
from Mom (Giselle)
Right now, we’re incredibly grateful that Eric is showing signs of improvement. He’s stable and under close monitoring in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). He’s currently being treated for bilateral ear infections and COVID. We are also pending the results from the echo today..But many of the concerning symptoms he experienced in Mexico — including cyanosis, seizures, and cardiac arrest — are still being investigated, and we’re anxiously awaiting test results.
One of the updates we’ve received is that his risk of repeated seizures appears to be low based on recent testing, which brings a bit of relief, but also some confusion. The doctors are working closely together pediatricians, neurologists, cardiologists, infectious disease specialists all collaborating to piece together what’s happening and how best to move forward.
Tomorrow, Eric is scheduled for an MRI, and he will also undergo a spinal tap to rule out any infections that may have reached his brain. Every step feels heavy, but we are comforted knowing he is in the best possible hands.
In Mexico, Eric endured multiple seizures, neurological decline, cardiac arrest, and dangerously low oxygen levels for over an hour. It’s been a traumatic and overwhelming journey, but we hold on to hope and the strength your prayers and support have given us.
Please continue to keep Eric in your hearts. We’re so thankful for the love, encouragement, and kindness that continues to surround our family. Your support means everything.
Second Update on Eric
Eric is now under the care of the incredible Neurology team at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, where he will be admitted until further notice. He’s alert, but very weak and resting. Right now, every small sign of strength from him means the world to us. The hospital staff has been nothing short of amazing so gentle, compassionate, and attentive. It brings us some peace knowing he’s in such good hands.
We can’t begin to express how much your messages, prayers, donations, and words of encouragement have meant to our family. The outpouring of love has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way. In the middle of this nightmare, you’ve given us light, comfort, and hope.
Please continue to keep Eric in your thoughts and prayers. He’s fighting, and we’re holding on to faith every step of the way. Thank you for standing beside us we feel your love, and we’re so grateful.
Eric’s First Update ❤️
We are beyond relieved to share that Eric is finally on his way back to the U.S. with the help of Jet ICU. He is currently en route to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, where he will finally receive the care he truly needs and deserves.
This has been nothing short of a nightmare for our family. The hospital in Mexico (AMERIMED Hospitals) has been a devastating and heartbreaking experience. My sister Giselle was constantly met with demands for cash payments before any treatment would be provided—and at one point, they refused to continue helping Eric until payment was made upfront. As an aunt and sister, watching my family go through this has been unbearable.
But through it all—your support has been our strength. I can’t even begin to express how grateful we are for the love, prayers, donations, and kind words we’ve received. It means more than you’ll ever know. Your compassion has helped make this critical transfer possible.
I will continue to share updates and photos as Eric begins his journey toward healing. From the bottom of my heart—thank you, thank you, thank you.
With all our love,
Lisette
Hello, my name is Lisette Valdes, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister, Giselle, and my brother-in-law, Yordanis, for their sweet 17-month-old son, my nephew, Eric Jordan. Eric is a joyful, loving baby who has already faced more challenges than most of us will in a lifetime. He was born with a rare genetic condition called Tatton-Brown-Rahman Syndrome (TBRS), and also lives with multiple comorbidities, including a congenital heart defect, sleep apnea, and laryngomalacia. Despite everything, Eric’s smile lights up any room. He’s full of life and love.
This week, he was on his first international trip with his parents and older sister to celebrate my sister’s birthday. What was meant to be a joyful family getaway quickly turned into a nightmare. Eric experienced his first-ever seizure, lasting over three minutes, which sent him into dangerous tachycardia. His condition deteriorated so rapidly that his organs began to shut down. The doctors suspect possible brain damage, but the full extent is still unknown — we are living minute by minute.
They are currently in Mexico, where the hospital is demanding large sums of money up front to continue life-saving care. The medical bills are rising quickly, and Eric urgently needs to be medically evacuated to receive the critical care he deserves. We are absolutely devastated and desperate for help. Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward Eric’s medical expenses and emergency transport. Please keep our family in your prayers and help us bring Eric home safely. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. With gratitude, Lisette Valdes & Family
