Bring Drops to Life: A Chapman Thesis Film

Donation protected
Welcome to the fundraising page for the Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film & Media Arts senior thesis film: Drops.

Xae, a self-taught chemist, cooks an eye‑drop called “Drops” in his bedroom, hoping the cash will be enough to get him and bottle girl Eva out of the city. Eva feels stuck at the club she works at as she is indebted to the menacing owner, Sean Pourade. After Xae’s helpless mother, Mary, pushes him one last time, he leaves home for good.  Only knowing one way out, Xae goes to Sean with a compromised bottle of drops, faking a deal. After a gruesome overdose that ends in the bloody death of Sean, Eva and Xae escape the club back to her place. Subconsciously knowing he left his mother to die. Xae and Eva end the night blood‑stained, heartbroken, and on the run.

A NOTE FROM OUR WRITER & DIRECTOR, David O'Mara:

I began writing Drops four years ago, but it’s been a lifetime in the making. Inspired by Good Time, Boogie Nights, and The Batman, it’s a raw, neon-noir narrative set against futuristic urban nightlife–exploring addiction, growth, freedom, and the lengths we’ll go to feel love and belonging.
Movies filled the quiet spaces of my childhood, and I’ve always known this would be my thesis film. Drops is the culmination of years of dreaming and believing in a story worth telling.
