"When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure." - Unknown
My Godson, our little miracle boy, my Buddy... our Heart warrior, Draven M. Keeton was born on 2/22/2017 with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (meaning he only had one chamber of his heart somewhat working). He was a miracle from the start of his little life for sure. As many of you know, it was touch and go for a while. Well, his little heart got bad enough to need a heart transplant at 5 months old. He got that transplant and he was doing great with only minor setbacks (no rejection). He was growing to be a beautiful little boy full of light and life. He brightened any room he walked into and he had a fight in him like no other. He was rambunctious and healthy. He had been through more than most adults have in their lifetime. For 7 years, he fought like a little warrior.
Fast forward to the beginning of this year when his world got flipped upside down. However, his heart surgeon and team graduated his yearly biopsies to every 5 years because he was doing so well. Sadly, because of unfortunate circumstances, they had to move to Florida and away from his transplant doctors, the ones who knew him the most. All after being told that his medical would be transferred and he would be able to get the medical needs met as soon as he got there. However, that wasn't the case. Once they got to Florida, they were told his insurance wasn't accepted at the doctor's office he was arranged to go to and that they wouldn't see him or be able to give him refills.
He was on SSI due to his heart and they had to have Florida medical which they applied for right then in January of this year and they should've had it immediately. However, it took until after his death to get it. So, in order to get his medication, he had to be taken to the local hospital to get his doses. However, little did mom and dad know they weren't giving him his full doses of rejection meds from January to May. They were only giving him half doses of one or the other, not full doses of both. As a result, he in fact went into rejection. His mom knew something was wrong and kept telling the doctors he's in rejection. They kept telling her he just had a virus (gastritis to be exact) and to take him home, give him fluids and rest, he should be alright in a few days.
However, that wasn't the case at all! One day later, on May 22, he was taken by ambulance to a second hospital who did the same blood work as the first hospital 24 hrs prior and it showed that in fact he was in full blown rejection!! And needed to be life flighted to the children's hospital (a third hospital) and that Mom and dad needed to find a way there as they couldn't fly with him. So they could only give him hugs and kisses and told him they loved him and would see him shortly and left to get a ride to the children's hospital. Well, little did they know that was their last goodbye because as they were getting him loaded on the flight, the team didn't even get off the ground before they rushed him back into the hospital while doing CPR. They tried CPR for 45 minutes but were unable to bring him back.
My Godson, their precious baby boy, died on 5/23/2024 by himself because mama and daddy had to leave to get a ride to the other hospital. He made 7 years on this earth and he took everything they threw at him and was still going before he was taken by a negligent hospital who said his test results just showed a virus instead of admitting he was in rejection and not assuming mama didn't know what she was talking about and helping him as his mother had told them she knew him 1000%. She was his advocate for 7 years! She was good with his medical and knowing what was going on with him. He was our Heart Warrior for sure, now he's our precious Angel.
I am making this account in his honor to help his Mama... as his ashes are still sitting in a morgue because his parents don't have the money to bring him home. SSI cut his benefits before they could get it fully paid and they are having trouble coming up with the money needed. People have said they would help but have also failed to do so for whatever reason. They also have all of Draven's memories in a storage unit in Washington state that they can't lose. If you can find it in your heart to help get my Godson Draven Keeton home to his mama and help save the memories, I'd greatly appreciate it.
If everyone gave 10 dollars or even 5 dollars and a share to all you know, I think we could get him home and save the memories and belongings for his parents. There is a lawsuit started but they need a little help before that. Again, this GoFundMe is in honor of my Godson, our angel in heaven, Draven M. Keeton. Please help me get him back to his family and save his memories. All proceeds will be given directly to the funeral home and the storage unit through me. He's been sitting at the funeral home for a month now as they try to raise funds. The other GoFundMe that is out there has stalled. So, as his Godmama, this is an updated one. Please share and if you can, please help this family get their baby back to them asap. They are roughly 1000 dollars away and I know someone out there can help with this last little push.
(His storage is due on the 1st of July or they lose it )
I was just informed that he isn't even cremated yet our lil Hero is being kept on ice until all money is raised please Help
