Hi, my name is Kelsey Wilk and I am the Drama/Performing Arts Teacher at Alpha: Blanca Alvarado Elementary School. We are a small, public charter school geared toward using restorative practices to level the uneven playing field for the low income/underserved families of East San Jose. I have been blessed with the opportunity to bring my theatre experience and passion for teaching drama to these amazing students for the 2021-2022 school year. I teach Drama to all of our K-2nd grade students at Blanca Alvarado, helping them to use their voice, move with joy and energy, express with creativity, perform and transform several times per week. They love drama, and their willingness to learn has led to incredible growth in their performance skills- they're ready to star onstage in their first play, this year! Our students are determined, motivated scholars, but sadly, most of our community lacks the resources to experience the magic of live theatre outside of school. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a little extra creativity is needed to keep performances safe and structured, and our emerging Electives Department is in need of a boost of donations to make our Winter and Spring Performances come to life.

 

This fundraiser will help hundreds of well-deserving students attend live theatre, create original plays, perform onstage and grow their confidence, creativity and public speaking skills. Please help us prove that "the show must go on" and give what you can to these incredible, inspiring students and their future in the performing arts!
