Help Drake in his recovery!

Drake is currently battling IMHA secondary to Anaplasma, a tick bourne disease/infection. He has been hospitalized since December 1st. He is fighting hard but, unfortunately, his body is killing off his red blood cells faster than he can regenerate new ones. He has had 5 blood transfusions so far in addition to antibiotics, steroids, and immune suppressants. This is a treatable condition but requires time for the medication to take effect and a large financial commitment. He is not in any pain, only experiencing periods of extreme weakness. Any prayers and/or positive thoughts sent his way are greatly appreciated. He is loved dearly by his family who want him home, happy and healthy. The love we have for Drake is equivalent to that of a human child. He is not just a hunting dog, he is part of our family. My and Ben’s hearts are breaking, watching Drake battle this. We have been by his side since day one, despite the 4 hours of travel time. Any additional funds raised in excess of his treatment costs will be donated to HEART Rescue and the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa.

Unfortunately, with animals, vets require money up front and the resources are not available for financial assistance like they are with human medicine. If you would like to help out with his medical costs, it would be beneficial in continuing the treatments needed for him to fight this battle. Stay strong, Drake!
