Connek Ja is celebrating Pride in Jamaica this June! HAPPY PRIDE! Jamaicans are a proud people. We celebrate the likes of Bob Marley and Usain Bolt, but what about the iconic, gender expansive, Grace Jones? As queer folks, simply existing authentically can feel like an act of defiance. This is especially true for queer Jamaicans however we choose our community over isolation, to celebrate rather than be ashamed. We choose joy as an act of REVOLUTION.

We're CONNEK, JA and we're reshaping Jamaica's relationship with queerness. Our org brings visibility to the legacy of queer Jamaica through a wide variety of local experiences.

Our Doll Ball Vol 3 was a HUGE success with 500+ attendees,

but we need YOUR HELP bringing Doll Ball 4: REVOLUTION to life!

This fundraiser is to support the Jamaican ballroom scene, a haven where Black queer and trans folks are seen, valued, and adored. Put your money where your pride is.

We’re raising a total of $15,000 to cover the cost of:

Venue Rental

Event Security

Food & Refreshments

Transportation

Fair Wages for All Event Workers

Airfare (our org involves folks throughout the Jamaican Diaspora)

Event Set Up and Take Down

Additional Funds Raised will Go Towards Supporting Future Connek Endeavors

The Story of Connek JA:

Connek JA is a grassroots org founded by Chris and Chaday. We have been featured in the Jamaica Gleaner and Pride Magazine, among other prominent publications.

Our goals are:

To connect queer people and allies in and outside of Jamaica through events in Jamaica and NYC.

To maintain a transnational presence as a traveling resource center with programming in Jamaica and NYC.

To collaborate and harness resources for organizations in Jamaica doing non-profit work to support the LGBTQIA+ community there.

To support the ever growing liberation movement in Jamaica for queer people while centering joy and community.
