I'm Autumn Harris, a veterinarian with a passion for all things animals.
My love for Dock Diving started in 2017 when my dog, Zoe, and I started competing with the North American Diving Dogs. It was a great way for us to bond and for her to have an outlet. A few years later, I started Dock Diving with Butch as well.
Through the years, Zoe won 7 titles and five invitations to nationals. Butch won three titles, five invitations to nationals, was the 2023 National Novice Veteran Champion in Distance Jumping, and 2024 3rd place National Novice Veteran in Distance Jumping.
Over the years, I've seen amazing relationships built between dogs and their handlers through this sport. Dogs leave lasting impressions in our hearts, even after they leave us, and Dock Diving is an incredible way to foster that bond.
I want to bring a dock diving pool to Helena in order for more dogs and their handlers/owners to have access to this incredible sport and to create more of those incredible bonds between animals and their humans.
Currently, the closest pool for practice and competition is about 175 miles away (Billings, MT).
Once this project is up and running, we plan to partner with NADD to host trials, and the pool will be available to rent. Lessons will also be available ultimately. I'd also love to be able to use a portion of the proceeds from the pool to help owners with veterinary costs.
Timeline depends on several factors, especially the ability to raise funds and how long that takes.
I am looking at options to place the pool indoors in a heated facility, which would allow availability all year. However, the pool may ultimately be outdoors and available only during the warmer months of the year.
Bringing a pool to Helena won't be an easy or cheap task—any contribution is appreciated! Please reach out to me if you have any questions. If you'd like to contribute another way, please reach out to me.
Thank you! I cannot wait to share Dock Diving with Helena!
