My name is Eva Morales. My step-dad, Diego Teoyotl, has been abducted by ICE in Puerto Rico. He is a Mexican citizen who has been living in PR for 16 years. The man who raised me as his own was tricked by ICE into coming to the precinct under false pretenses; they told him he was suspected of crashing his car into another, and needed to come in for questioning. The responsible, law-abiding citizen he is, he knew he hadn't done it, but went in anyway. When he arrived, he was abducted. Just the day before, he had been stung by a wasp on his eyes. The second picture of him with swollen eyes is the state he was in when taken. We have heard no updates on his condition, and assume they haven't been taking care of him. He has been denied any visits from my family, including with my mom, his wife.

He has a hearing on the 30th, which gives us a glimmer of hope that he won't be disappeared away to who knows where in the week until then, but there is no way to know for sure.

My step-dad was the sole breadwinner of my family. My brother just got out of jail a week ago, and is living in an apartment that my step-dad was paying for. (He is under house arrest, unable to work for a living.) My mom is incapable of working due to her numerous medical conditions (skin cancer, a pulmonary embolism, carpal tunnel, arthritis, and several tumors). My step-dad also helped take care of my nephews, who are the sons of my sister, a single mother. We are now the sole money-earners; I, working as a kitchen manager in NYC, and my sister, who is a bartender in PR.

I hate asking for help, but my family and I are in desperate need and trying to raise money for legal fees, bills, everything you could think of. Everything that my dad, Diego, the hardworking, loving father, had dedicated his life to helping us with. We've already had to borrow money from friends to get $1500 in the last two days, and have no idea how much it will cost in the coming weeks as we fight to keep him with his family.
