Help Bring Diana Home to El Salvador
Donation protected
Diana has been a beloved member of the Columbia Heights community for over two decades. After seeking asylum in Washington, DC she became a champion for transgender and homeless rights. Diana’s journey was not easy, but her resilience and compassion touched countless lives. As a Community Navigator with District Bridges, I had the privilege of working with her to secure permanent housing, which she finally received in April 2024. Even while facing her own challenges, Diana opened her door to other homeless transgender individuals, offering them shelter and support while we worked to find them stable homes. Her kindness and advocacy have left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
Diana is now in the final stages of liver failure. Her greatest wish is to be reunited with her family in El Salvador. Unfortunately, she is not well enough to travel, so we are raising funds to honor her wish by sending her body home after she passes. The funds will cover the costs of preparing her body, transportation to El Salvador, and funeral services there. Diana’s friends will always remember her playful smile and her ability to bring people together, even in the hardest times. We hope to give her the farewell she deserves, surrounded by her loved ones in her homeland.
Your support will help us fulfill Diana’s final wish and provide closure for her family and friends. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference during this difficult time.
