Help Bring Davidson Ladder 1 Home.

We have an opportunity to purchase Ladder 1 from the current owners for $5000.   The Town’s original ladder truck is a 1955 open cab Seagrave.  Ladder 1 was sold when it was replaced by the current ladder, and is currently sitting in a barn in central North Carolina.  Surprisingly it still runs.  Our goal is to purchase Ladder 1 and donate it to the Town of Davidson.  The town will then refurbish it as funds become available. Ladder 1 would be used in local parades and for educational programs.

Note from an old timer: “My first memory of running a call on Ladder 1 was a mutual aid fire alarm In Cornelius.  I was riding in the back of the old ladder holding on for dear life thinking what have I gotten myself into.   The siren would cut in and out as you went over bumps and your main way of warning other cars you were coming was ringing the hell out of the silver bell mounted on the passenger side.  There was a large battery powered flashlight you could use to supplement the less than stellar light package.”  It is a great memory to have and I know some of the other vollies of the time have similar memories.  Well there aren’t many times in life that we get to recapture some of our past but this is definitely a time when we can do this.   Help us to bring Ladder 1 home.
