I'm so excited to be bringing my interactive solo show DADS to Toronto Fringe this summer (June 30-July12), directed by my brother Dylan Trowbridge.
The Show
Using audience interaction, stand up comedy, games and storytelling, DADS makes space for the sometimes complicated, sometime hilarious, and always impactful relationships we have with the men who made us. With each show different from the next, this playful piece wrestles with whether honour and honesty can truly go hand in hand.
The Challenge
I signed up for Fringe with the hope of having a big goal to work towards completing in 2026... and my name was drawn for the lottery for Satellite Venue category! I shortly realized that this category is significantly more costly than the standard Fringe stream, with a $1750 venue fee and a $500 admin fee. Those fees on top of the cost it takes to put up a production felt quite overwhelming. I debated what to do but felt compelled to go forward with the plan, even if I didn't quite know how I would cover those costs at the moment.
The Fundraiser
This is just a shot in the dark. A hopeful call made out into the ether to a few folks who might help me get closer to realizing this dream for 2026. All funds will go directly to securing the theatre space (VideoCabaret's Deanne Taylor Theatre) and to Fringe admin. Any amount would be hugely appreciated (including simply positive energy) and I look forward to celebrating each of you along the way. Thank you!!
