Thanks to your incredible support, we reached our $12,000 production fundraising goal! We truly cannot thank everyone who donated, shared, encouraged us, and helped get Cross Creek to this point. Because of you, we are officially moving into pre-production and preparing to shoot the film. Now, we’re entering Phase Two: FINISHING THE FILM.

Our next goal is to raise an additional $5,000 for post-production and getting Cross Creek out into the world.

Once filming wraps, there is still an entire phase of filmmaking ahead of us.

IT'S TIME TO TELL OUR STORY.

In 2006, when I was seventeen years old, I was taken from my home in the middle of the night and transported to Cross Creek Manor, a behavioral modification program in Utah.

I spent nine months there.

For years, I wasn't ready to tell that story.

Now I am.

Cross Creek is a short film inspired by my experience and the night everything changed. The film follows a teenage girl named Messy as she is removed from her home and forced into a world she doesn't understand, leaving behind her family, friends, and everything familiar.

What began as a deeply personal story has evolved into something much bigger.

Together with my co-writer and co-director, Jess Waters, we've developed Cross Creek as both a standalone short film and the foundation for a larger television series that explores the world and experiences introduced in this story. Our hope is that this film serves as a powerful first step in bringing these experiences to a wider audience.

While Cross Creek is inspired by my experience, it is not intended to speak for every survivor. This is simply my attempt to tell my story honestly, through the medium I know best.

For years, this story lived only in memory.

Now we're bringing it to the screen.

OUR TEAM

Cross Creek is co-written and co-directed by Jessy Greer and Jess Waters.

Jessy Greer is a writer, actor, producer, and co-founder of We're There Films. The story is inspired by her experience being transported to and attending Cross Creek Manor as a teenager.

Jess Waters is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker whose work explores identity, belonging, and resilience through emotionally grounded storytelling.

The film is being produced by Jessy Greer, Jess Waters, and Cat Del Re (Actor, producer, and co-founder of We're There Films).

We are also thrilled to have cinematographer Arman Meinecke attached to the project. His visually rich and emotionally grounded approach will help bring the world of Cross Creek to life on screen.
