A friend and I are raising funds for Cris, who was recently taken into ICE custody on Friday, January 23rd. He went in for an immigration appointment with his attorney, and after not hearing from him, we grew deeply concerned. After more than an hour without hearing from him, and with his phone completely off, we began to worry deeply. We soon discovered that he was relocated to a detention center in Texas within six hours of being taken into custody.
Cris is a devoted father, loving partner, and deeply caring member of his community. Cris is a talented sushi chef who has become a valued part of the Minneapolis restaurant community. He has always been someone who helps others — supporting family, friends, and neighbors in need, whether it’s lending a hand, sharing resources, or offering guidance. His kindness and generosity have touched countless lives, and now his own family is facing a crisis without him.
To our knowledge, Cris has no criminal history and has always been responsible in following his immigration obligations. Despite this, he is now separated from his children, partner, and community, facing the overwhelming challenges of detention.
The impact on Cris’s family has been immediate and profound. His children miss their father, and his partner struggles to manage daily responsibilities alone. Friends and members of the community have been providing emotional and financial support to help them through this difficult time. Every day without him is a heavy burden on everyone who loves him.
Legal representation, bond proceedings, and emergency family support come with overwhelming costs that can quickly reach tens of thousands of dollars. Any contribution, large or small, and every share of this fundraiser helps bring Cris one step closer to coming home to his children, loved ones, and community.
We are heartbroken for Cris and his family. This separation has created tremendous emotional and financial strain, and we hope that our community can come together to support them during this painful time.

My husband went to an immigration appointment on Friday, January 24, and that is where he was arrested. That same day, he was transferred to Texas. We have been following our immigration process with our own lawyer, but unfortunately, every day the situation here in Minnesota has gotten worse. My husband is a great man and father, a very responsible, committed, and empathetic person. He was the main breadwinner in our household.
During this difficult time, he helped our entire family and friends by finding food and other necessities. He is a good person.
We are currently seeking any support we can get to help cover legal expenses. A lawyer is handling the bail case. Even if you just share this campaign, I thank you from the bottom of my heart

Cris was detained by ICE on January 23rd. He came to this country, like so many others, hoping for a better future for his family. I met Cris several years ago when we worked together and became friends. He and his wife have two children, an 8-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son. Cris is a very humble, positive, and hardworking man, always doing everything he can to make sure his children and wife have everything they need.
Today, his wife is caring for the children alone and facing the harsh reality of having her husband detained and seeing their children without their father. This family, and many others, are going through very difficult times. Cris is not there to care for his family as he always has, but we have this wonderful community, and together we can all contribute a little to support these families.
Every bit of support makes a difference in helping Cris return to the family and community who love him.
