Hi everyone! My name is Arlette Peralta and I’m a senior Video/Television & Film major at Hofstra University. I’m currently working on my senior thesis film titled Con Lágrimas de Amor, which translates to With Tears of Love. Inspired by true stories, this film follows a young girl as she discovers the reason why her parents work tirelessly, uncovering a story of sacrifice, love, and the pursuit of a better life.

This story is special to me because it’s rooted in real experiences growing up in an immigrant household. I’ve wanted to tell this story ever since I arrived at Hofstra. I didn’t have a full script back then, but I knew I wanted to create something that would honor my parents and other families like mine. I’m making this film as a way to thank them for the sacrifices they’ve made, their resilience, and for giving us a life filled with love. Con Lágrimas de Amor reflects who we are as Latinos—hardworking, dedicated, and loving. Especially in times like these, my hope is to make my community feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
