Make it Home: Bringing Comfort to Hospitalized Children
Donation protected
Make it Home was founded by Aliza Zilberberg in 2020. It works to provide free room decor to children and teens in hospitals. We do this by raising money and purchasing high-quality decor such as pillows, blankets, garlands, stickers, and stuffed animals and creating cute and trendy packages for patients to decorate their hospital rooms and make them feel at home. These packages are delivered to hospitals and are distributed to their pediatric and adolescent patients as they are admitted.
These packages serve as a way for the patients to make their space their own, as other kids and teens are able to in their bedrooms. They also act as a way of giving these patients agency—they are able to choose which themed package they want to take—in an environment where nearly everything else that happens to them is out of their control.
As of 2025, we have delivered over 300 packages to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, and look forward to making an impact on many more patients as we continue.
Starting in February 2025, two SKA students, Ella Zilberberg and Yakira Botnick, plan to continue running this organization with Stella K. Abraham HS by making and delivering another shift of packages. So, to keep Make it Home’s impact running, we ask that you help in any way you can, be that by donating or sharing this page. We would love for YOU to be apart of this incredible project and help us make a difference in the lives of so many children and teens.
