Help Bring Comfort and Peace to a Beloved Sister and Auntie

Donation protected
Our hearts are breaking as we share that our beloved sister, cherished Auntie, Lisa Byington, is beginning hospice care, courageously facing the final stage of her battle with cancer. She has put up the fight for nearly 4 years against stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She has had constant chemo treatments through this time and several rounds of radiation. With each failed chemo (she has had 4 types plus 3 secondary types) she never gave up the fight to keep trying, keep going, keep enduring the brutal side effects each one would bring, and she did it with dignity and tenacity.

Lisa, or as her nephews call her, Auntie, is the kind of person who has always put others first. Whether it was caring for her bed-ridden mother for 10 years, or how she was more like a second mother to so many children from church, or a most beloved Auntie to her nephews, she has lived a life full of love, compassion, and quiet strength. Rachael always called her “the wind beneath my wings” because in so many ways she has been just that. To know her is to love her. If you met her she was an instant friend. Lisa has meant so much to so many, but none more than to her sister Rachael. Rachael and Lisa have been incredibly close their whole lives. Lisa the big sister even though she’s all of 4’11”, was always fiercely protective of her little sister. She has been Rachael’s ride or die best friend her whole life. Always there to pick up the pieces when Rachael would fall apart, through her teen years and well into adult/motherhood. Lisa has always loved children. She has a special relationship with each of her 4 nephews, who all adore and treasure her. She has served the children at church in various capacities for over 30 years, from 18 months to age 11. She is a devout Christian, her testimony of the Savior has carried her through every trial she has ever faced, as well as throughout her entire life.

After a long and difficult journey with cancer, she is now receiving hospice care, where the focus is on comfort, dignity, and peace. During this incredibly difficult time, our family is doing everything we can to surround her with love and support.

We are asking for help to ease the financial burden that comes with end-of-life care. Donations will go toward hospice-related expenses, medical costs, and helping our family be fully present with her in these final days without the added stress of financial strain. Any remaining funds will be used for funeral expenses and to support her loved ones as they navigate this loss. Because of her diagnosis she was unable to keep life insurance, this is why we are humbly asking for help.

If you are able to give, no matter the amount, it would mean so much to our family. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page or keeping Lisa and our family in your thoughts and prayers is deeply appreciated!!

Thank you for helping us give Lisa the comfort, dignity, and love she deserves.

With gratitude,

Her Family and Friends
