Help Bring "Clubland" to Life: A Feature-Length Documentary

Hello everyone!

I’m Madison Parler, a 2024 film graduate and the director of “Clubland,” a feature-length documentary that dives deep into the impact of Giuliani-era policies on New York City’s nightlife, artistic expression, and civil liberties. This project sheds light on how these "quality of life" initiatives—disguised as public safety measures—have disproportionately affected Black and Brown communities, while simultaneously reshaping the vibrant culture of New York City.

In "Clubland," we explore the clash between the desire for social order and the struggle for freedom of expression in a transforming city, capturing a critical moment in New York's history.

This year, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to interview inspiring figures such as Joseph “DJ Riz” Rizzo, Derrick “Hip Hop Cop” Parker, Norman Siegel, Ephrem “DJ Enuff” Lopez, Cipha Sounds, and many more. The core of the documentary is now “in the can,” but we need your support to push through the final stages of production.
