In the remote rural communities of the Ecuadorian Sierra and Amazon regions, thousands of families still rely on contaminated rivers and unprotected water sources for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. This puts entire communities—especially young children—at constant risk of waterborne illnesses that are entirely preventable.

Why Clean Water Matters

Access to clean water is one of the most powerful tools for improving health. Contaminated water can carry bacteria, parasites, and viruses that cause chronic diarrhea, malnutrition, dehydration, and long-term developmental challenges. Young children are the most vulnerable; repeated waterborne infections can weaken their immune systems and limit their ability to grow, learn, and thrive.

A simple, reliable water filter can prevent these illnesses and transform a family’s daily life.

Our Goal

For just $35, we can provide a family with a Sawyer bucket water filtration system—a durable, long-lasting filter that removes harmful pathogens and provides safe drinking water for years. These filters require no electricity, no chemicals, and minimal maintenance, making them ideal for remote communities.

What We’ve Accomplished So Far

Thanks to the generosity of supporters and the dedication of both international and Ecuadorian volunteers, we have already:

Provided over 400 families across five Indigenous rural communities with Sawyer filters

Delivered hands-on training so families know how to use and maintain their filters

Built strong relationships with community leaders to ensure long-term success

These filters are already making a measurable difference in health, school attendance, and overall well-being.

What’s Next

We are now expanding our efforts to reach even more families who lack access to safe drinking water. We will be working closely with UNORCAC (Unión de Organizaciones Campesinas de Cotacachi) and other local organizations to identify the communities with the greatest need and coordinate distribution and training.
