My name is Jade Landero, and I am Carlos Daniel Granjeno's wife. We've been together for almost 9 years, and we'll be married for 2 years this August. Since meeting Carlos, he has been nothing but selfless and is a whole-hearted person. Carlos was brought to the U.S. in 2005 when he was 4 years old. He never got to meet his father nor grow up with him, leaving his mother to raise him alone in the U.S. He has two half-brothers and a half-sister, and when his stepfather left, Carlos stepped in as the older brother to be the man of the house. Despite his struggles, Carlos always had good grades, earned awards in school, and was at the top of his classes. When he started high school, Carlos began working at 15 to help support his mom and siblings. He was studying at one of the top magnet schools in Florida to become a Science Engineer, but with the economy rising during COVID, he had to drop out of his senior year to help his family. Ever since, he has worked hard to keep things afloat for those he loves most.
In 2023, we found out we were pregnant with our first child, Eleia Rose. From the moment I told Carlos, he reassured me that he would take care of our baby and me. He was so happy and excited to be a dad, especially since he never got to meet his own father. He wanted to show our daughter what a real father should be like and how to love. From the moment our baby was born, Carlos became the epitome of a girl's dad. He works six days a week to provide for us, always coming home with love, patience, and a smile, no matter how hard his day was. Watching him grow into the father and man he is today has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Carlos doesn't just limit his love and support to his family but also to those in need—offering food to the homeless, donating to food banks, and fostering animals. His compassion reaches far beyond our home, and I am so grateful our daughter gets to grow up with him as her role model.
On Wednesday, Carlos was detained by ICE at work. We currently have an attorney representing him who will file a motion for bond, but if the judge grants it, we need help to pay it and cover other attorney expenses to continue his process here with a family petition. These funds will help unite our family back together and allow Carlos to finish his legal status here in the U.S. All Carlos wants is to raise his daughter and not worry if he gets taken away again. Any support will help us reunite our family and give Carlos the chance to continue being the loving father and husband he is. Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time.
