I am raising funds to help bring my short film CAPICÚ to life. This project tells the story of two brothers navigating challenges stacked against them, using the lessons, strategy, and resilience they learn at the domino table to confront obstacles in their lives. At the same time, the film offers audiences an authentic glimpse into a cherished aspect of Puerto Rican culture. Since I am half Puerto Rican, I was inspired to write this film to tell a Puerto Rican-in-America story that resonates with the community I grew up in, and to create a story that authentically represents the Boricua diaspora, especially in my hometown of Hartford, Connecticut.

Currently, I am applying for grants and awaiting decisions, so this GoFundMe is a backup plan to cover production, casting, and hospitality costs. If I do receive funding from the grants, then the funds raised here will go towards Film Festival submissions and to create an original soundtrack composed by local Puerto Rican musicians.

By achieving our fundraising goal, local artists will be paid fairly to contribute to this film by means of acting, production, soundtrack, graphic design, and more, while ensuring a quality end product that can lead to more featured stories about Puerto Ricans in mainland USA.

As Puerto Rico becomes better known through reggaeton, specifically Bad Bunny, this film will give audiences more context for Puerto Ricans' everyday lives, culture, and struggles in the United States. I'd appreciate your support in authentically representing the Boricua diaspora and sharing Puerto Rican culture with a wider audience. Any contribution will help make this vision a reality.
