The Final Push – One Step from the World Cup

My name is Dani Franada, and I’m honoured to be part of Canada’s national women’s rugby league team-- the Canada Ravens.

Since the last Rugby League World Cup in 2022, our team has been working towards this next chapter.

As the game grows, so does the competition. For the first time, qualifying isn’t automatic-- it has to be earned, tournament by tournament.

After winning against Jamaica and the USA to secure the top spot in North America, we've earned our place in the World Series-- the final qualifier for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.

Now, we face an even bigger challenge. In the World Series, we’ll compete against Ireland, Fiji, and Nigeria for the last available spot at the 2026 World Cup.

With players spread across such a huge country, coming together to prepare is a major commitment-- but it’s one we’re proud to make.

In the lead-up, we’ll be preparing through a training tour through August 22 to September 1, before competing in the World Series qualifiers from October 17 to October 27.

Every step ahead brings new opportunities-- and new challenges.

Preparing for the World Series is an incredible honour, but it comes with real costs: flights, training camps, accommodations, and tournament fees-- all covered by the players ourselves.
