Who are we?
Our names are Ashley Chodat, Christian Krushel, and Sargil Tongol, and we founded Ragamuffin Productions in 2019 in Vancouver, British Columbia. We graduated from Douglas College in 2017 and since then have started Ragamuffin to create meaningful work that resonates with audiences. From the beginning we have been driven to create theatre that explores play and the outlandish. Our shows have been presented throughout British Columbia, with our most recent play, June Bug, winning the TYP Family Forward Award at the 2022 Vancouver Fringe, in partnership with Carousel Theater for Young People. Ragamuffin Productions strives to foster growth and opportunity for emerging artists. Tying into the name Ragamuffin, our mission is to “create off the wall theatre that invites audiences to celebrate playfulness and the outlandish.”

This September, we return to Vancouver Fringe with a new campfire jamboree called Camp Goneaway, written by co-founder Ashley Chodat.

The Play: Camp Goneaway
What's lurking in the lake? Margot and Evie are best friends. When they hear a legendary sea monster is hiding in the depths of their camp waters, they are determined to uncover its secrets. For fans of Gravity Falls and The Babysitters Club Mysteries, this heartfelt campfire jamboree explores the relationship between girlhood and eco-anxiety. For the young and young at heart.

Why Now?
Over the last four years, there has been significant grief and hardship in the world. Camp Goneway reflects current concerns of the next generation (the climate crisis, eco anxiety, pollution) from the point of view of two youth struggling to hold onto their friendship. Through science fiction and in the form of a camp jamboree, Camp Goneway gives two young women the space to express their hopes, dreams and curiosities about the future. It allows us to reflect on how to better care for the environment and our community.
