Help Us Bring Cacharel Home ❤️

Our family is asking for something we never imagined we would have to ask for: help us rally around Cacharel as she fights for her life.

Cacharel is 37 years old. She is a mother to two beautiful girls, Sarai, 14, and Aaliyah, 13. She is a daughter, a sister, a fiancée, a friend—and truly one of the sweetest, most selfless people you could ever meet.

If you know Cacharel, you know that she puts her whole heart into the people she loves. She makes birthdays special. She celebrates the little moments. She makes sure everyone around her feels seen, cared for and loved.

She is the kind of mother who will make sure her girls have absolutely everything they need while she’s still wearing the same T-shirt she’s had for ten years. She gives and gives, often putting herself last.

Right now, we need to put her first.

Cacharel is currently in the ICU in North Carolina with an aortic dissection and an aneurysm in her aortic arch. She needs open-heart surgery, and her condition is extremely serious.

Our family has a history of Marfan syndrome, a genetic condition that can affect the aorta. This diagnosis carries an additional weight for our family that is difficult to put into words.

Our father faced a devastatingly similar medical crisis at around Cacharel’s age.

We ultimately lost him.

Now, years later, we are standing beside his 37-year-old daughter as she fights a terrifyingly similar battle.

We cannot write that ending again.

We need this story to end differently.

And as if this family hasn’t already endured enough, just four months ago, Cacharel’s fiancé, Donovan, was involved in a major accident. He spent approximately a month in this very same hospital fighting for his life. Cacharel stood beside him and helped hold their family together through an unimaginable time.

They were just beginning to recover.

Now Donovan is caring for their daughters while Cacharel is the one fighting for her life in the hospital.

This family has been through more in four months than anyone should have to endure.

And now they need us.

Cacharel works full-time, but she currently does not have health insurance. The medical expenses associated with an ICU stay, extensive treatment and open-heart surgery will be enormous.

At the same time, life outside of the hospital doesn’t stop.

Sarai and Aaliyah still need to be cared for. Their household still has expenses. Donovan needs to be able to focus on the girls and Cacharel. Our parents and immediate family need emergency flights and places to stay in North Carolina. Family members are missing work and traveling from out of state so that Cacharel is never fighting this battle without the people who love her beside her.

We are raising funds to help cover Cacharel’s medical expenses, the essential needs of her daughters and household, emergency travel and lodging for immediate family, transportation, meals, lost income for those providing essential family support, and the long road of recovery we are praying comes after this.

Because we fully intend for there to be an after this.

Cacharel has spent her life showing up for everyone else.

Now we’re asking the world to show up for her.

If this were your sister, your daughter, your mother, your fiancée or your best friend, you would move mountains too.

That’s what we’re trying to do.

I keep telling my sister that I will flip the world upside down for her if that’s what it takes to bring her home. And I mean it.

But our family cannot do this alone.
