My only brother sustained serious injuries while living in Florida, requiring two surgeries and a prolonged hospitalization. He no longer has the ability to care for himself for at least a little while (thinking 6 months to a year). He will be moving in with me for ongoing assistance and helping him walk and be independent again. I have to get him to New York. This will involve the cost of my husband flying down, getting a rental, and driving him back. Due to the nature of his injury, he cannot fly, and we will need to rent a minivan in order for him to be able to keep his leg elevated and upright for the 17+ hour drive back. I am asking for help to offset the costs of travel and the setup of his room in my house, including a bed, shower chair, lamp with remote, etc., as well as to offset any medical expenses he/we incur as a result of his current lack of medical coverage. Any help or a share is greatly appreciated. We have four kids and don't have the funds saved for an emergency like this out of our pockets. And he doesn't have the money himself. He is currently staying in a homeless charity house to ensure he has a safe place to stay until we can get to him. But we have a deadline.
