Help Bring Baby Blosser into the World

Hi Friends and Family!

 

As many of you know, one of our biggest wishes is to have a baby and start a family. Michaela has dreamt of being a mom for as long as she can remember. Growing up she always had a doll in her arms and wanted to bring them with her everywhere she went. She has always had a special connection with children, as they seemed to gravitate toward her. She uses those gifts as a Certified Professional Nanny, however she desperately wants to be a mom!

 

Nevin is a Hospice RN, and loves taking care of people. Together Michaela and Nevin would joke that we do the same things just on the opposite ends of life. He would make a wonderful dad! Together they would make great parents!

 

When we got married one of the first things they did was get Nevin tested to see if he was a carrier of Cystic Fibrosis. Michaela was diagnosed at 2 days old and has lived with the illness for 29 years. The reason we wanted to test was that neither of us were comfortable bringing a baby into the world that had Cystic Fibrosis due to the hardships that would bring the child, and the infection control. People with Cystic Fibrosis have to stay 6 ft away and wear masks around other people with CF or they could pass on bacteria and diseases to each other causing them to become seriously sick or even die. (Sound Familiar?) Michaela has decided she doesn't want to be a reason her baby gets sick. We would like to stop the disease with us. Since Michaela has Cystic Fibrosis and with Nevin being a carrier it is a 50/50 chance that a baby conceived naturally would have CF. In order to prevent this we have decided to go down the route of Invitro Fertilization. This procedure provides medical help to ensure the child will not have CF.

 

This process is very costly, potentially up to $50,000. Despite it being difficult to ask for money, this GoFundMe allows friends and family to assist in fulfilling our dream to become parents to a healthy child. And though we plan to move forward regardless of how much is raised, every little bit helps and is incredibly appreciated.

 

The amazing thing is the doctors have deemed Michaela healthy enough to carry a baby herself! After a long journey of not knowing whether that would be a possibility it is finally a reality! It has been a long journey in getting healthy and well enough to become pregnant. That in itself is a miracle and thanks to Science and a lot of hard work and dedication and the support of family, friends, and faith, we now finally have the opportunity to pursue this dream.
