About two years ago, Bitty came into our lives in the most unexpected way. I found her in my driveway about a year after my kids lost their father to cancer. From the very beginning, Bitty was never an ordinary cat—she seemed like an old soul. She doesn’t just meow, she talks to us, and she’s always watching over me and my boys. Every school day, she follows them to the bus stop, sitting and watching until they get on, and she’s there again when they return. My kids believe she was sent by their dad to keep them safe, and in many ways, she’s become a guardian and a source of comfort for our family.
Yesterday, March 22, 2026, Bitty was hit by a vehicle. The person who found her called animal control but ended up leaving her in someone’s driveway—by chance, it was ours. I nearly missed her with our own car, and when I picked her up, she was cold, hurt, and crying out in pain. I had to make a heartbreaking decision: risk her life by waiting, or surrender her to animal control so she could get immediate care. We love her too much to risk losing her, so I let animal services take her, making it clear I wanted her back if possible.
Today, animal services called with an update. Bitty doesn’t need major surgery, but she has many lacerations, a fracture between her hips, and she’s lost control of her left leg. She needs medication and strict kennel rest, but thankfully, she can recover. They said I can bring her home if I pay the vet fees within 48-72 hours. The costs are less than I feared, but I simply can’t afford them in that short time frame.
The money raised will go directly toward Bitty’s vet fees, medication, and the costs to bring her home from animal services. Until I can pay in full, they’ll keep her safe and recovering. Bitty means the world to me and my boys. When I told them about her accident, I heard the same pain in their cries as when they lost their dad—only this time, there’s hope she can come back. If anyone can help with any amount, we would be extremely grateful. As I told animal control, 'I’ve never been a cat person, but I love this cat so much.' Losing her would be awful.
