Help Bring Back The Howard Theatre!

For 99 years, the Howard Theatre has been a staple, a shining jewel in the middle of downtown Taylor, Texas. The pandemic plus burst pipes during the freeze of 2021 caused it to close its doors and since has been greatly missed.

We were hoping someone would come along, buy it, and restore it to its former glory. Then, we quickly realized that we may be the only two people crazy enough to give it a try.

So...here we go!

The current owner has graciously given us an extension, and we now have until December 3rd to raise enough money for the down payment and money to start the restoration process. Fingers crossed we can raise enough before then! We don't want to let him, or anyone, down!

Our plan is to reopen the Howard as a theater and event space to eventually include music, comedy, and more. We hope to restore it to as close as possible to the original design, while making any needed upgrades that make sense for the current times.

We know that the reopening of the Howard Theatre is a challenging undertaking, but we feel that we have the passion, insight, support, and drive to make it a reality for those in the community and surrounding cities that have missed it being open.

If you ever had the chance to visit the Howard, then you know just how very special it was and can be again. We have already heard so many stories of first dates and first kisses, engagements and anniversaries, nights out with family and friends, and all the things that make a small town theater a wonderful thing for a community.

We hope that we can accomplish our goal and be able to purchase the Howard for past, present, and future movie goers, and we will be eternally grateful for any donation you can afford!
