Help Bring Back Paolo’s Gelato, Community Staple Since 1999
Donation protected
On Sunday, June 30, 2025, an electrical fire broke out at Paolo’s Gelato in the heart of Atlanta’s Virginia-Highland neighborhood. Thankfully, no one was injured and the building remains structurally sound, but the fire has forced Paolo’s to temporarily close its doors. For over 26 years, Paolo’s Gelato—founded by Italian native Paolo Dalla Zorza—has been a beloved neighborhood staple, serving authentic Italian gelato and bringing joy to generations of Atlantans. More than just a sweet treat, Paolo’s is part of the cultural fabric of the Virginia-Highland community, nestled in the historic VA-HI Building.
We’re launching this GoFundMe to help Paolo and his team recover and reopen. While Paolo does have commercial insurance, as many small business owners know, insurance often doesn’t cover everything—especially when it comes to business interruptions, equipment replacement, and unexpected out-of-pocket costs. Funds raised will go toward expenses not fully covered by insurance, including repairs, equipment, and essential operating costs during this difficult time.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that Paolo’s Gelato continues to bring smiles and scoops to the neighborhood for years to come.
