Hello, My name is Juliet and I have known Aileen for over a decade,I am trying to help alleviate some stress on a good friend, sister, and her family.
As some of you are aware from Aileen’s latest post on Facebook of Baby Myles (3 weeks old) latest condition. Which requires full supplemental oxygen to aid breathing during his stay at Westchester Medical Center.
Myles was not too long ago diagnosed with RSV on Saturday January 4. Myles had an early due date due to his mother’s complications and her pregnancy with severe pre-eclampsia and had to spend some time in NICU before he was discharged from the hospital.
On January 7th in late evening, Aileen discovered her newborn baby had stopped breathing and was totally unresponsive to stimuli. The doctors believe this episode is due to the severity of the RSV that caused apnea and left baby Myles breathless for at least 10 minutes.
With the help of her neighbors she was able to get Myles to become some what responsive and attempts to take small breathes again. Emergency responders arrived at the scene of their home, but he was too unstable to remain there. Myles was immediately escorted to Vassar Brothers Medical Center with the severity of his condition worsening. According to his mom, he was immediately transported to Westchester Medical Center for a higher level of care.
Myles has been highly dependent on high flow oxygen since this incident of his home. Providers have made recent attempts to wean him off. But with the state of his condition, his premature lungs are too weak to breathe on his own.
Myles father just started a new job not too long ago according to Aileen. Dad has been taking time off to be able to take care of Myles and three siblings at home. While mom remains in the hospital.
From what Aileen has told me, he is a happy pleasant baby that loves to take his naps and nurse. He even started smiling and looking around and becoming aware of his family members prior to this incident.
The family is recently going to be temporarily staying at Ronald McDonald house that is closer to baby Myles, because the family lives approximately 1.5 to 2 hours away. This will allow the other three children to able to spend some time with their mom [Aileen] as well.
I am trying to help alleviate some of the financial burden that the family is experiencing. Any amount that can you are able to contributed would be greatly appreciated, and this will help with transportation, food, and medical expenses.
The doctors are not able to predict how long baby Myles will remain in the hospital related to the severity of his current condition.
Thank you for your time and sincere support in helping a mom, wife, sister, and daughter.
