Help Us Bring Alimy Home
Our beloved sister, Alimy, has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. We are asking for your support to bring her home to Pohnpei so she can rest among her family and ancestors. Our goal is to raise $35,000 to cover the costs of her journey home.
Alimy was from Enpein and Sokehs in Pohnpei. She moved to the U.S. with the hope of giving her five children a better future—one with more opportunities for education and health. As life started looking brighter, she was diagnosed with cancer. But in true Alimy fashion, she never complained, never showed her pain. She carried herself with quiet strength, not wanting to worry her loved ones.
She had this way of making life feel lighter. Whether things were going good or bad, to Alimy, it was all okay. She never made problems bigger than they needed to be. She was always the one to compromise, to find a way forward. And no matter what, she always had friends—so many friends. People didn’t just buy sakau from her; they came just to sit, laugh, and sakau with her because she was that kind of person—the kind you just wanted to be around.
Alimy grew up in a humble farming family and worked hard to provide for her children. In Pohnpei, she sold sakau and sewed skirts to make ends meet. When that wasn’t enough, she made the difficult decision to leave home, hoping to give her kids a better life. She faced every struggle with a steady heart and a smile, carrying a “no problem” attitude that could be both frustrating and oddly comforting at the same time.
Even in her hardest moments, she was full of love. A devoted mother, a loving sister, and a true friend, she made the world a little brighter just by being in it.
Cost Breakdown:
$17,000 to bring Alimy’s body home to Pohnpei
Remaining funds to cover flights for her five children and her mother (who has been caring for her) to travel home for the burial
Now, we want to honor her by bringing her back home. If you can, please donate, share, or tell us a memorable story you have of her. Every contribution, big or small, will help us give Alimy the farewell she deserves.
Alimy is survived by her beloved five children.
Thank you for your love and support. ❤️
