Help Bring Alexander Home to Guatemala
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Santos Vasquez, and I’m reaching out with the heaviest heart I have ever carried.
Early this morning, around 4 AM, my brother Alexander’s wife found him unresponsive. Despite every hope and prayer, he had passed away peacefully in his sleep. Alexander was only 25 years old — full of life, dreams, and hope for a better future. His passing was sudden, unexpected, and has left a hole in our hearts that nothing can ever fill.
Alexander moved to New York City about eight years ago from Guatemala. He made the brave choice to leave everything he knew behind — his family, his friends, the only home he ever knew — in search of better opportunities. His dream was simple but powerful: to work hard and send money back home so that our parents and siblings could have a chance at a better life.
Here in Brooklyn, he built a life with his wife and dedicated himself to construction and remodeling homes. Every dollar he earned, he thought first of our family. Alexander never chased luxuries for himself; his greatest pride was being able to help others. He was a good man — the kind of brother, husband, and son you could only hope to have — selfless, hardworking, loving, and kind.
One of the things Alexander loved most about America was the spirit of community — the way people from all walks of life could come together to help one another when it mattered most. He believed deeply in the idea of a melting pot, where kindness, compassion, and hope could unite strangers as family. It’s that spirit we are leaning on now, hoping for help to bring him back home.
We are humbly asking for support to cover the enormous costs of sending Alexander’s body home to Guatemala. International transport of a loved one is heartbreakingly expensive — just the cost to ship his body alone can reach upwards of $20,000, and that does not include funeral expenses or the many additional costs involved in giving him the farewell he deserves.
We are doing everything we can, but we cannot do this without help. Any amount you are able to give — no matter how small — would mean the world to us. Even if you cannot donate, simply sharing this page would help more than you know.
Alexander gave everything he had to support his family and build a better future. Now, with your kindness and generosity, we hope to bring him home so he can rest surrounded by the love he never stopped fighting for.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you & may God bless you.
