Enclavado en lo profundo de los majestuosos Pirineos del norte de España, Santuario Gaia es un faro de esperanza para más de 500 animales que en su día se enfrentaron a una muerte segura o a una vida de maltrato. Mucha gente imagina a los animales de granja como objetos insensibles que solo existen para nuestro consumo. Este documental pretende desafiar esa idea contando las increíbles historias de los animales de Gaia.
Historias como la de Faustina, una potra con una rara enfermedad ósea, destinada a ser sacrificada para obtener su carne, o la de Catalina, una ternera ciega, rescatada a pocos días de ser sacrificada. Esta película única permitirá al espectador sumergirse en la vida del santuario y comprometerse personalmente con los retos, los triunfos (y sí, también las tragedias) a los que se enfrentan a diario el santuario y sus residentes.
Más que un simple documental sobre un santuario de animales, esta es una historia de redención. ¿Se recuperarán estos animales, a menudo contra todo pronóstico? ¿Encontrarán los cuidadores la manera de mantener el santuario a flote a pesar de las presiones económicas, la enorme exigencia física y emocional que supone?
El director Alex Lockwood, cuya película 73 Cows fue la primera y única película de temática vegana en ganar un premio BAFTA, invita al espectador a embarcarse en un emotivo viaje que nos hará conocer y amar a cada uno de los animales protagonistas

Otros gastos que cubrirán vuestras donaciones son los relacionados con el legado, los aspectos legales, el subtitulado, la música, la animación, el etalonaje, las proyecciones educativas y el equipo técnico.
Por último, cualquier importe adicional que se reciba se utilizará para crear un plan de marketing y distribución, ejecutado por profesionales del sector con décadas de experiencia a sus espaldas, que garantizará que la película llegue a una audiencia global. Nestled deep in the majestic Pyrenees Mountains of northern Spain, Santuario Gaia is a beacon of hope for over 500 animals who once faced certain death or a life of abuse. Many people imagine farm animals as unfeeling objects that exist solely for our consumption. This documentary aims to challenge that notion by telling the incredible stories of the animals of Gaia.
Stories like that of Faustina, a filly with a rare bone disease, destined for slaughter for her meat, or Catalina, a blind calf, rescued just days before she was to be killed. This unique film will allow viewers to immerse themselves in the life of the sanctuary and become personally invested in the challenges, triumphs (and yes, also the tragedies) that the sanctuary and its residents face daily.
More than just a documentary about an animal sanctuary, this is a story of redemption. Will these animals recover, often against all odds? Will the caretakers find a way to keep the sanctuary afloat despite the economic pressures and the immense physical and emotional demands?
Director Alex Lockwood, whose film 73 Cows was the first and only vegan-themed film to win a BAFTA award, invites viewers to embark on an emotional journey that will introduce us to and make us fall in love with each of the animal protagonists. We have launched this crowdfunding campaign to bring the story of this moving film to a wider audience.
Your donations will allow us to complete filming, editing, color grading, and sound mixing, as well as prepare for what we believe will be a strong awards circuit run. Other expenses covered by your donations include those related to legacy, legal aspects, subtitling, music, animation, color grading, educational screenings, and technical equipment.
Finally, any additional funds received will be used to create a marketing and distribution plan, executed by industry professionals with decades of experience, that will ensure the film reaches a global audience. But this will only be possible with your help.
