I am writing this with a heavy heart and an urgent request for help. Two of my employees, Alex Paucar and Kimberly Tocte, were taken by ICE. They are not strangers or headlines—they are coworkers, friends, and valued members of our community. Right now, they need us more than ever.
Kimberly has worked with me for some time, and she is the kindest person every workplace hopes for: compassionate, dependable, and always willing to lift others up. She helps new employees feel welcomed, supports her coworkers without hesitation, and shows up every day with warmth and generosity. She followed instructions to check in with immigration, trusting the process, and was detained. In a moment, her life and the lives of those who depend on her were turned upside down.
Alex is newer to our team, but his determination and hope were immediately clear. He is a young man working hard to build a future, committed to following legal pathways and doing everything “the right way.” Watching someone with so much promise be taken in this way is heartbreaking.
