Help bring Aisha & Ilja's solo shows to Edinburgh Fringe

Hi, we're Aisha and Ilja, graduating acting students from Berlin, and we are asking for your support to bring our solo theatre performances to this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Edinburgh Fringe is the largest performance arts festival in the world, with thousands of performers attracting millions of visitors each August. We are thrilled (and a little terrified) to share that we are officially part of the 2025 programme!

We'll each be performing our original 40-min solo shows, Kazakh Princess Diaries and Down the Hole, written & performed by ourselves. These projects were our final graduation projects for our BA in acting, produced and developed completely by ourselves, with guidance of our tutors.

The funds raised will be used for venue rental, accomodation in Edinburgh, travel, food and essential advertising (think posters, flyers, photo/video shoots). So far, we have financed the show costs ourselves, keeping costs minimal--taking our shows abroad to an international platform like Fringe is a big step, one we definitely need some help with.

Kazakh Princess Diaries by Aisha Kalymzhanova

"A spoiled teen discovers she's heir to the Kazakh throne and is thrust into a whirlwind of cultural shock, family chaos, and self-discovery in this jazzy, cabaret-style solo musical comedy about identity, privilige, and finding our voice."

Down the Hole by Ilja van Ravels

"Inside a lonesome Linden Tree, far away, Juul discovers a fetish for choking--unearthing buried traumas that neither Juul nor their mother, Annette, have ever truly faced. A one-person dark comedy diving between shame, desire, and self-acceptance."

Both shows offer a fresh take on the coming-of-age story, combining physical theatre, original music, mime, multiple languages, and deeply sincere narratives--all told from queer and PoC perspectives.

We really believe these shows are worth seeing, any support is greatly appreciated, no matter big or small.
