Help Bring A Unique Silent Film to Life
Donation protected
Hello! We’re the team behind “The Gag Order,” a primarily silent film set in both the modern day and a distant, dystopian past. It follows a journalist who finds herself stuck in the world of a black-and-white silent film 100 years prior to the life she knows. Fearful of losing her present-day job in the midst of what she sees as rising authoritarianism, she needs to rediscover her investigative courage while simultaneously learning how to navigate the unfamiliar world she finds herself trapped in.
Driven by a desire to explore a new genre and filmmaking technique, our writer/director Ethan Kozo is using this film to serve as a criticism on increasing levels of media censorship and suppression of free speech in the current day and age. This is his final solo-directed film as a college student, and he hopes for a last hurrah that's filled with heart and acts as an amalgamation of everything he's learned over these past 4 years. Your support will help us create a project that will hopefully be as timely as it is timeless, and for our filmmakers, as fun as it is challenging.
We're requesting a budget of $1,500, which will be put into catering, props, production design, paying our cast, and submitting to festivals. We have an incredible crew for this project who are all equally excited to get into production, and we would really appreciate your support. Thank you for helping us bring this story to life. It means the world.
