Hi, I’m Dorit Gerov, President of Students Supporting Israel at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University. Our club is actively involved in addressing Antisemitism and anti-Israel rhetoric in our universities and the wider community.

Today, we urgently need your support for a profoundly impactful event scheduled for March 11.

We are hosting Or Elmakias, a courageous woman who survived the October 7 attack at the Nova Music Festival in Israel. Her gripping story of survival, including being shot in the leg and her escape to safety, is powerful and needs to be heard. This event is a chance for our community to come together, hear her experience, and stand in solidarity against violence and hate.

Due to Or’s leg injury sustained during the attack, she requires premium class tickets for the extra legroom and comfort essential for her travel. Furthermore, as she needs assistance with mobility, it is crucial for her mother to accompany her. This means covering the cost of two short-notice premium class tickets, which is a significant expense. We are in a crucial fundraising phase to secure these tickets promptly and cover other vital expenses such as reception, security, and event logistics.

Any additional funds raised will be used to organize a student-specific event with our guest during her visit. Should there be excess funds, we plan to donate them to an Israeli organization chosen by our guest, Zaka.

How the Funds Will Be Used:

* Premium class airfare for the survivor and her mother

* Reception and event logistics

* Security arrangements

* Student-specific event (if additional funds are available)

* Donation to Zaka, an Israeli organization (for any surplus funds)

Special Incentive for Generous Donors: To express our gratitude for your generous support, donors who contribute $200 or more will receive reserved seating and their names featured on the event sponsor list. Make sure to still register here on Eventbrite.

Your support can make a significant difference in bringing this event to life. Every contribution, large or small, is invaluable. Please share this campaign with your network to help us meet our goal quickly.

Thank you for your generosity and for standing with us in this crucial endeavour.

Warm regards,

Dorit Gerov
