We're so incredibly grateful for all the support we've received so far for Kubra Zafer.
With your help, we brought her body to Turkey and buried her in the family cemetery. We made this possible entirely with your donations, the support of our Houston Turkish consulate, and the help of our volunteers in Dallas. I cannot find the words to thank you on behalf of our family.
We are grateful to the Turkish and Pakistani communities who took care of our funeral since no one in our family lives in America.
From the donations collected so far, we've paid $7,000 to Rama Funeral Home to transport funeral to Turkey.
We have a long road ahead of us. My sister’s two children, a boy 6 years old and a girl 14 years old are currently in a children shelter. We've hired a lawyer and are fighting to gain custody of the children.
CPS will first place the children in temporary foster family, while our custody case continues. Meanwhile, no one in our family member has a passport or visa, so I've applied for a passport and then a visa so I can come and see my nephews when CPS permits to do so. They haven't allowed anyone to see the children yet.
However, CPS asked us for family photos, videos, and we immediately provided them through our lawyer to show the children. We told them that we are always here to support them as a family and that we couldn't wait to see them.
Meanwhile, brother-in-law is in prison for the murder of my sister, and we know district attarrney will file a lawsuit against him for capital murder. As a family, we want to hire another attorney and involve with the case to ensure my sister’s rights are protected.
You know, your donations are very valuable in being able to follow up on these cases and overcome these difficulties. Because our family does not have the financial strength to bear these expenses.
I will keep you updated as progress.
A huge thank you to each and every one of you. May God bless you all.
We couldn't have done this without you in this difficult time.
