Help Bring A Good Woman to the Stage
Donation protected
Collaborators Nerissa Tunnessen and Sam Xiao Cody are presenting their show “A Good Woman” for DC fringe (and other shows to be announced soon…)!
Please consider donating to our fundraiser to help cover the costs of fringe shows. Fringe fees, studio rentals, and transportation are incredibly costly and we appreciate all the help we can get with covering these costs.
“A Good Woman” is a collaborative music and dance work that studies the story of the Odyssey’s Penelope. The work looks at a cross section of performing and subverting gendered norms through acts of reclamation and resistance and pressure to conform and be “good.” Penelope’s story is itchy, full of constraint, and sexualization. The piece explores these themes of secret desires, conformity to sexual ideals, complex power imbalances, and control through the relationships of music, dance, and string.
