Hello friendly gift-givers!
We hope you're all having a marvellous 2025! Please take the time to read through what we're all about, and why we're fundraising for this project.
Who are we?
TPTC makes feminist theatre! So does everybody else. What makes us different? We believe that our work presents a truer type of feminist activism than others. Our characters are often not likeable, sometimes un-feminist, always real. We thrust them into situations which may appear at first to be of another world, then we reveal slowly how close our reality could be to theirs. TPTC weaves horror, drama, and the essence of womanhood into every piece we produce, and the result is often shattering.

COVENANT (2024)
What is '24Weeks' about?
Donald Trump is now back in the White House. At home, an unprecedented amount of women in the UK are currently being investigated by the police for their abortions. Thus, our fears of dwindling access to reproductive rights across the world remains terrifyingly relevant. It is because of these worries that our team is continuing our journey with theatre discussing abortion. ‘24 WEEKS’ is the next step along from ‘COVENANT’, and aims to show the terrifying destination that we in the UK could arrive at if we don’t start taking reproductive rights seriously. TPTC is talking about abortion without shame or fear.

COVENANT (2024)
24Weeks is an original work by Laura Walker, a young, female, Scottish writer, known for making small-scale productions that allow her stories to stand proud. Isabelle Cory directs the show with consideration of all aspects: the writing, physicality, and the atmosphere of the piece. The play centres on the relationships between three friends, with Becca at the heart of the drama. Upon discovering she is pregnant in a reality where abortion is illegal, Becca faces an intense personal crisis. Her friends, however, hold differing views on how best to support her, and whether they are prepared to risk legal consequences to do so.

How have audiences responded so far?
In 2024, Tatty Pants Theatre Company brought ‘COVENANT’ to the Edinburgh Fringe as a WIP show. Audiences emerged from the show half-shell-shocked, half-bursting to discuss what had elapsed onstage: as Katie Coble of The Student wrote: “As the show ended, I realised I’d been holding my breath.” We were proud of the conversations which emerged from both audiences and critics, as well as the show’s description as “a powerful work about a Britain in sway to uber-patriarchal tyranny” (The List).

What would it mean to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival?
As young, emerging, theatremakers, we have so much more to learn about ourselves as a company. Having presented a show at the Edinburgh Fringe for the past two years, we believe that we are at a level now where our work can be broadcast to larger audiences, at bigger venues. We have loved putting on shows at the Fringe’s grassroots venues, but we are ready for step up. As a team of incredibly hard-working individuals, we are setting ourselves up for a challenge, but one that we cannot wait to overcome. The work speaks for itself, and our audiences speak about it too. We just hope to continue providing space for the conversation about these important topics, and we feel that theatre is the perfect way to achieve this, specifically at the Fringe.
