On January 30th, 2025, my next-door neighbors, Brien West, and Mehgan Sidhu, and their daughters, Catherine and Amelia, experienced a devastating fire that destroyed their home and the adjacent duplex. Tragically, many of their personal belongings were lost in the blaze, and they now face the long challenge of finding temporary housing for six months or more while their house is rebuilt.

While insurance will help with reconstruction costs, numerous unforeseen expenses remain, and the added burden of time away from work to manage the disaster and recovery efforts is considerable.
