Hi, My name is Brianna, but I often go by Brie. I am a recent graduate from Fresno State, with a B.S. in Child Development from the College of Social Sciences. One of the greatest experiences I was able to take part in at Fresno State has to explore and experience cultural research under Dr. Jessica McKenzie. I was beyond excited to be invited to be a part of the Human Development and Culture Research Team where under her guidance I am able to be a part of hands on research and learning to be a member of the research community.
I am from a small rural town nestled in the Central Valley. My passion for cultural studies and research was fueled by my hometown. I grew up in a town that was primarily Hispanic. I was surrounded and immersed by cultures from Mexico and Latin America. This drove me to wanting to understand and learn about other populations around the world. I am an active member of my community serving on boards such as Laton Parents Club and Laton Youth Baseball. I am someone who helps others before helping themselves. I have also been in the classroom at a non-profit child development center as an infant/toddler teacher for ten years. I could never imagine that I would be invited to share our work with researchers from around the world.
We are thrilled to share that our all-female team has been granted the incredible opportunity to present our research on digital media and globalization and the effects it has on morality in Low and Middle Income Countries at the International Academy for Intercultural Research + International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology Conference in Brisbane, Australia! The conference will take place from June 28 to July 1, 2025. This opportunity is a dream come true, as it allows us to showcase our work on a global stage, connect with other researchers, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge. We are also on our way to being published for our work as well. However, attending this conference comes with significant expenses, including flights, lodging, registration fees, and other travel costs. I am reaching out to friends, family, and community to help me make this goal possible.
Supporting this fundraising campaign would not only help me attend this conference, but also contribute to my growth as a student and future professional. Your support will play a critical role in my academic and career success. In addition to covering the conference registration ($300), flight and transportation expenses (estimated $2,100), hotel stay (estimated $800-$1,000) and meals, your generous donations will also assist in covering essential graduation-related costs as I prepare to graduate this May. These funds will help ensure that I can fully focus on completing my studies
Every dollar counts, and any amount you can give will bring me one step closer to making this dream a reality.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and belief in our work! Please share this campaign with others to help spread the word.
With gratitude,
Brie
