My beautiful sister, Bridgette Thomas, at the young age of 48 was just diagnosed with Breast Cancer during the holidays after finding a lump in her breast. Given our family history of breast cancer, she has been having mammograms since age 36. The good news is she has tested negative for all genetic mutations and markers, so this is not hereditary. The unfortunate news was sudden and the tumor was found with an aggressive variant of HER2+. What we do know is that she will be starting chemotherapy infusions, surgery and radiation followed by years of medication and follow-up care. There is a multitude of tests that are in process to determine the best path for her survival. Since it is the beginning of a New Year all medical deductibles must be met over again, and the surmounting medical bills are already building. Bridgette is strong and will fight this all the way, but she will need help from friends and family. She is a single mother with only her income therefore, the greatest gift you can give her is a donation of any size to help keep her from worrying about finances so she can focus on her treatment plan and getting healthy. Please re-share this on your social media sites and check back often as this is the platform we will be using to provide updates on her journey. Please send Bridgette positive vibes, thoughts and prayers as she navigates her path of healing.
