Help Bridgett Breathe, Dream, and Live Again
My name is Bridgett Pollock, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt and urgent plea for help.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of living a life of independence, health, and service to others. I worked tirelessly to build a future of self-reliance and financial freedom, a future that would make both myself and my family proud. But in 2017, my world changed forever when I was diagnosed with sporadic Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), a rare and life-threatening condition.
This disease has taken so much from me—my health, my ability to live independently, and the hardworking path I had once relied on. It has left me dependent and struggling, but it has not robbed me of my determination or hope. Today, I stand at a crossroads where the only thing that can save my life and help me achieve my dreams is a lung transplant at Emory University Hospital.
WHY THIS TRANSPLANT IS MY ONLY HOPE
This life-saving surgery is my only chance to reclaim my health and independence. It will allow me to stand on my own two feet again, live freely, and pursue the dreams I’ve worked so hard for. But the cost is overwhelming—estimated at $17,000.
The longer I wait, the greater the risks. LAM is a progressive disease, and delays in treatment could lead to complications that might disqualify me from receiving the transplant. I am running out of time, and the only thing holding me back is the financial burden.
Thankfully, the Georgia Transplant Foundation offers a savings program that could be a game-changer. Through this program, funds raised can be matched up to $10,000, bringing me closer to the amount needed. With your help, I can take full advantage of this program and secure the care I so desperately need.
MY JOURNEY: FROM HEARTACHE To RENEWED HOPE
After the heartbreaking loss of my mother, the weight of my illness and life’s challenges became unbearable. I was hospitalized, overwhelmed by feelings of failure—unable to make myself or my family proud. I was too eager to go into that permanent sleep, but thankfully I was saved. But through that darkness, I found a renewed desire to live and a deep determination to fight for a meaningful, fulfilling life.
My father’s tragic passing when I was young taught me the value of perseverance and hope, and I’ve carried that lesson with me throughout my life. I’ve always dreamed of a career in the healthcare field—not just to support myself but to help others and make a difference in the world.
LAM has made that dream feel distant, but I refuse to let it slip away. This transplant is my chance to live freely and to honor the love, sacrifices, and memories of my family.
