Help Bridget Fight Breast Cancer and Preserve Her Future

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

This may come as a shock to many of you—it certainly did to me when I first found out. Recently, I received the devastating news that I have Stage 3 breast cancer. At just 33, I never thought I’d be fighting this battle against my own body. As many of you know, I strive every day to be my healthiest and serve others in my career in naturopathic medicine.

And for those of you who don’t know me, it’s unfortunate meeting you this way but I am beyond grateful you are here and reading my story. My name is Bridget. I’m 33 years young and a naturopathic doctor. I am (and always have been) deeply invested in my health, fitness, and relationships with friends and family. I hope one day to start a family of my own. This diagnosis has been quite the set back for me but nonetheless, I’m determined to take on this journey with courage, hope, and positivity.

However, the road ahead will be long and challenging. Since the cancer has progressed and spread to nearby lymph nodes and the cancer itself has grown very large, I do not have the option for a simple lumpectomy to remove the cancer. My treatment plan includes mastectomy, fertility preservation treatments (which include egg retrieval to give me the chance to have children in the future—a dream I’ve always held close to my heart), followed by 5 months of once weekly chemotherapy, 6 weeks of daily radiation, and reconstructive surgery, not to mention life long therapies and very frequent scans to ensure the cancer does not return.

This diagnosis isn’t just physically demanding—it’s emotionally overwhelming. The mental challenges of battling cancer are immense, and therapy will be critical in helping me navigate the fear, grief, and uncertainty that come with this journey.

While I’m determined to beat this, the financial burden is overwhelming. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs for fertility treatments, surgeries, supplements/medications, therapy, and recovery are staggering. That’s why I’m reaching out to you—my friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers—for support.

Your donations will help cover:
- Diagnostic imaging/biopsies that were paid out of pocket (~$5,000)
- Fertility treatments, including egg retrieval, to protect my ability to have kids. This is not covered by insurance (~$12,500)
- Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation to fight the cancer (~$6,500)
- Reconstructive surgery to rebuild what cancer will take (~$10,000)
- Therapy to work through the emotional challenges of this journey ($?)
- Wigs, temporary brows/lashes to hopefully help maintain a sense of normalcy through chemo treatments (~$2,000)
- Supplements and medications to help combat the toxic effects of chemo and radiation ($1,000)
- Supplies to make chemo more bearable (I’ve made an Amazon list with many of the things I will need. If you prefer to help out by gifting me an item on the list, it would be greatly appreciated) (Amazon list)
- Living expenses while I focus on healing, as this journey will drastically limit my ability to work ($2,500)

No amount is too small, and every donation means the world to me. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this page with your network could make all the difference.

Thank you for supporting me during the most challenging time of my life. Your kindness, generosity, and love give me the strength to keep fighting for my future.

With love and gratitude,
Bridget
