Bridget Kimmer, Michael Kimmer’s wife, has been hospitalized since Saturday morning, January 17th, in the ICU at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. She is suffering from full-body septic shock brought on by E. coli in the bloodstream. She's intubated and has a couple of small brain bleeds currently. She has to remain intubated for the time being as they are going to attempt to remove the stent in her liver that could possibly be the source. She has been on dialysis these past few days to help filter the blood. She is still testing positive for the bacteria in her blood, but she is receiving really strong antibiotics, and once the source of infection is gone, we hope her body will start to kill the bacteria. Until then, we are day to day and continue to monitor her. They are also concerned about the circulation in her feet. They are trying to keep them warm and help her regain good circulation.
Michael is taking leave from work to stay by Bridget’s side. As we all know, these medical bills will be extremely expensive, and monthly bills never stop. We are asking for donations to help the Kimmer family with travel expenses, medical expenses, and anything else that may come up. Bridget has a long road ahead of her and will need all the help she can get. The family appreciates the love, support, prayers, messages, and phone calls. Thank you for your donation!
Update; Bridget will be undergoing double amputation surgery on Thursday, February 12th. The Kimmer Home will require extensive renovations, including a roll-in shower, remodeled kitchen, wider doorways, an extension of their porch with a ramp, and many other features. Please consider donating to help with these expenses. Thank you!
