My name is Carissa, and my partner Drew and I run an independent cat rescue in Bridgeport, CT. Right now, I’m caring for 23 cats—each with their own story and need for a second chance. Of these, 17 still need to be spayed or neutered, receive rabies and FVRCP vaccines, get parasite treatments, and have their nails trimmed. These steps are essential before they can be safely adopted into loving homes or returned to their natural environments.
Among the cats in my care, one is suffering from a painful case of stomatitis. She’s losing weight because eating has become so difficult, and her treatment will require specialized veterinary care. Another cat is struggling with chronic diarrhea, and we expect his diagnosis and treatment to be costly due to suspected gut issues. These urgent medical needs are in addition to the ongoing costs of food, litter, and daily care for the entire group.
Bridgeport is in crisis mode when it comes to cat overpopulation. These animals are in this situation through no fault of their own—it’s a people issue, and it will take people to help solve it. By donating to our cause, you’ll be making a real difference in the lives of these cats, helping to end needless suffering and give them a chance at a better future. The cats and I thank you so very much for your kindness and support. Wishing you a happy holiday season!
