Summary:

Hoping if enough people can give even $5 or $10 each, it will help bridge the housing gap my friend is experiencing — until her next disability benefits deposit enables her to move to a more affordable area several hours away.

If enough gifts come in, she will have motel and gas money, groceries, and money toward her next security deposit.

I wish we had the funds or the room in our house to help her all by ourselves, but unfortunately  we don’t.

 Details:

My 50-yr-old friend has lived most of her life in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where she worked multiple jobs and had to use her retirement account to raise two kids on her own, with no child support ever paid by her ex-husband.

Tragically her son died of overdose a few years ago. On top of her anguish and grief, my friend is battling several autoimmune diseases that are worsening.

She receives disability benefits, but is so crippled by pain lately she cannot supplement that income with caregiving work like she has in the past.

Because of this drop in income she lost her rental home and is trying to move to central IL to find an affordable solution near her daughter’s college. She has no family left other than her daughter.

She needs help bridging this gap between homes, otherwise she’ll be living out of her car by the end of this week.

She also will need help with the first and last months rent. Once she is established, she has enough income to support herself.

My friend has been through so much with the loss of her son, the loss of her mother, and these debilitating illnesses.

Thank you in advance for your compassion.

(I will not use her photo or name publicly due to my friend not wanting to embarrass her daughter. But if you contact me privately both myself and she will be glad to answer any questions you may have.)

Thank you in advance for your compassion.
