I am Eric Lytle, founder of the Bluegrass Outreach Initiative. My experience working in physical therapy in a local healthcare system—and my service on the board of Staves of Honor, a nonprofit founded to assist veterans and first responders—has given me a clear view of the disparities caused by evolving healthcare policies and insurance. This firsthand knowledge was the direct catalyst for founding the Bluegrass Outreach Initiative.
Currently, I have purchased and collected donated durable medical equipment (walkers, shower chairs, bedside commodes, canes, etc), and administer to people in the community as needed. The goal is to broaden how much of the community we can help.
At Bluegrass Outreach Initiative, our mission is to strengthen the Northern Kentucky community by bridging the gap between available medical equipment and individuals in need, providing the necessary tools and resources to maintain dignity, wellness, and self-sufficiency at home.
We aim to provide medical equipment to those in need who are unable to obtain it. Also, we can help provide funding for specialty equipment for those in need. If we are unable to assist, we will use our network of resources to get our community the help they deserve.
Your donation will be used for:
- Partnering with Harbor Compliance to finalize our paperwork to become a charitable organization in Kentucky and a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit by the IRS.
- Funding needs, including website, business cards, signage for donations, storage rental, and other critical needs including DME.
- Assisting in providing DME, other equipment, and resources to those in need in our community.

Between delays in paperwork processing with the government shutdown, gaining volunteer support, and finalizing all marketing and donation needs, we are aiming to be operational in 4-6 months.
